Write a Sales Message That Doesn’t Suck
How to invite sales with story, value, and clarity — in a way that actually sounds like you
I used to dread writing sales content.
Not because I didn’t know what to say…
but because I felt like I had to say it in someone else’s voice.
For years, I operated as a highly functional, undiagnosed AuDHDer — masking without even realizing it. I built businesses. Raised kids. Played the role. Kept everything moving.
And when it came time to market?
I mimicked.
I’d look at what “successful” people were doing and try to replicate it — tone, structure, everything.
My real voice? Buried under years of survival-mode and trying to fit in.
Only in the last year or so have I started to really find it again.
Now I write like me.
Weird, nerdy, blue-haired, anime-loving, D&D-metaphor-making me.
And the more I let that version show up in my business…
the easier sales became.
Because people finally understood what I offered — and why it mattered.
The Problem with Most Sales Writing
Most sales templates feel stiff, overly structured, or flat-out manipulative.
So when it’s time to write a pitch, a post, or a sales page?
You freeze.
Not because you’re bad at selling — but because you're trying to do it in someone else’s voice.
That’s why I created this gentle structure to help you get started:
A 4-Part Flow for Real, Resonant Sales Content
You don’t need a full email sequence.
You just need to say four things — in a way that sounds like you.
I call it the Soft Sequence — but really, it’s a flexible message flow you can use anywhere.
Here’s how it works:
🧵 1. Story
Start with a moment your audience can relate to. It doesn’t have to be deep — just honest.
“Ever launched something with your whole heart… and then ghosted your own offer the next week?”
💡 2. Value
Share a tip, lesson, or reframe. Show how you see the problem — not just what you know.
“Most people think evergreen means a giant funnel. But really, it just means people can buy when they’re ready — without waiting on your next post.”
✨ 3. Glimmer
Paint a small picture of what’s possible. The shift. The relief. The progress they could experience.
“Imagine waking up to a sale from something you haven’t talked about in two weeks… because your system is quietly doing its job.”
💌 4. Invitation
End with a soft call to action. A link, a DM, a gentle next step. Keep it simple and clear.
“If you’re ready to build that kind of system, here’s how I can help…”
Where to Use This Flow
You can apply this 4-part structure to:
A single sales email
A high-converting social post
A simple, conversational sales page
A waitlist follow-up
A voice note or DM if you’re talking 1:1
Even a carousel or caption that leads into an offer
This isn’t a “sequence” you have to build out — it’s a framework to help you start.
And if you only write one sales message?
This will help it land with integrity and clarity.
🔍 Quick Win: Draft Your First Real Sales Message
Pick an offer. One you love.
Then, try sketching out these four parts:
A short, relatable story or scenario
One insight or tip
A moment of possibility or outcome
A next step invitation (DM me, reply here, check out the link, etc.)
✨ You don’t have to use all four every time — but hitting 2–3 of them can make a huge difference in clarity and connection.
🧠 ND-Friendly Tip: Voice Before You Write
If writing feels stiff, open a voice recorder or talk it out loud first.
Ramble your way through the story and the value
Say what you’d actually tell someone if they asked about your offer
Then jot down the glimmer and invitation
It’ll feel 100x more natural than staring at a blinking cursor trying to write “professionally.”
What’s Next
In the next post, I’ll show you how to lightly automate this kind of message — without losing the human touch or building a robot army.
Because the goal isn’t to remove yourself from your business — it’s to make space for more of you to show up, without burning out.
